2026 JMEWS Graduate Student Paper Prize
Call for Submissions
The editorial team of the Journal of Middle East Women’s Studies (JMEWS) invites
manuscript submissions for the 2026 JMEWS Graduate Student Paper Prize. The prize
is awarded to a graduate student in any discipline in the humanities or interpretive social
sciences to recognize an original work on an aspect of Middle East women’s, gender,
and sexuality studies.
Current graduate students are invited to submit polished manuscripts written in English.
Manuscripts should run 7,500-10,000 words and conform to JMEWS submission
guidelines. They are expected to be in MS Word and must include a cover page listing
the manuscript title, full author name, academic institution, program of study, and a 150-
word abstract.
The submission deadline for the 2026 Graduate Student Paper Prize is May 29, 2026.
Manuscripts may be sent any time before this date to the JMEWS Managing Editor at
jmews@amews.org with the subject line: “Graduate Student Paper Prize.”
The winner will be announced during the annual meeting of the Middle East Studies
Association in November 2026. They will receive a certificate, a $500 prize, and
comments to prepare the manuscript for potential publication as an article in JMEWS.
