Hind Ahmed Zaki is an Assistant Professor of Political Science, with a joint appointment in the Department of Language, Culture, and Literature, at the University of Connecticut, USA. She specializes in comparative politics with a focus on gender and politics in the Middle East and North Africa (MENA). Her research focuses on theories of state feminism, feminist movements, gender-based violence, and qualitative research methods. Her first bookGendering Sovereignty: Feminist Politics, Affect, and Violence in Egypt and Tunisiaexamines the place of state-sponsored feminism in post-revolutionary Egypt and Tunisia to demonstrate how political contestations around gender contributed to the making and unmaking of state sovereignty after the Arab uprisings. In addition to her scholarly work, she is an active member of several scholarly and feminist associations in both the US and the MENA region including AMEWS and WHRD MENA Coalition.
